Ornellaia

Ornellaia is an Italian winery located in the Bolgheri DOC in Tuscany, renowned for its production of Super Tuscan wines. Considered one of the leading references for Bordeaux-style red wines in Italy, Ornellaia was founded by Marquis Lodovico Antinori, a member of one of the most historic families in the Italian wine sector.

The estate's vineyards were planted in 1981, with the first vintage produced in 1985. In 1987, a modern winery was built, and later, the Bellaria estate, spanning 56 hectares, was added, situated north of Bolgheri. The Robert Mondavi Winery acquired a minority stake in Ornellaia in 1999, becoming the sole owner in 2002, before the Frescobaldi family took over in 2005.
