About Winery
Château Tertre Roteboeuf
Bordeaux, France
The history of Château Tertre Roteboeuf spans generations. The legacy began when the property was known as Le Tertre, and the traditional farmhouse was built in the early 18th century, around 1730.
The significant turning point for Château Tertre Roteboeuf occurred with François Mitjavile, who produced the first notable vintage in 1978. Quickly, by 1989, the property was acclaimed as one of the best in Saint-Émilion.
Tertre Roteboeuf's 6 hectares of vineyards are cultivated with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, located southeast of Saint-Émilion. With an average age of 40, some Cabernet Franc vines are over 50 years old. The commitment to organic and sustainable farming techniques highlights the property, which boasts impressive soils.
Harvesting at Château Tertre Roteboeuf involves carefully waiting for the perfect grape ripening, resulting in concentrated and distinctive Bordeaux wines, concluding the harvest among the last in the region.
