The 2016 Rouge holds close to the estate's signature profile: deep carmine red, powerful and elegant on the nose with ripe red and black fruit, white pepper, and liquorice, the aromatic expression carrying the authority of mature vines on limestone. On the palate, the tannins are firm and resolved, the texture smooth, the finish long. What gives this vintage its particular character is a certain strictness of structure that speaks to the best limestone-grown wines of the South: there is precision here alongside the warmth, a mineral seriousness beneath the generosity of fruit.
