Clos des 60 Ouvrées Monopole, Volnay 1er Cru AC, Volnay Côte D'Or, 2014

The 2015 Clos des 60 Ouvrées arrives from a vintage that produced red Burgundies of unusual richness and warmth, and Pousse d'Or's biodynamic farming gave them access to fruit of real concentration and clarity. The wine is generous and rounded without sacrificing the precision that defines this monopole's character. Red and black cherry, violet, and a thread of warm spice on the nose; a palate of density and silky texture, the tannins resolved and the fruit persistent through a finish of considerable length. There is a maturity of approach here, both in the farming and the winemaking, that allows the En Caillerets terroir to speak at full volume.
