Château Duhart Milon Rothschild 4eme Cru, Pauillac, 2015

Duhart-Milon has undergone a quiet but significant transformation in recent years under the direction of the Rothschild family, the wines becoming more refined and more clearly expressive of their Pauillac terroir. The 2015, with its high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and careful work in the vineyards, shows this progression with real clarity. The nose is tightly wound, with blackberry, bilberry, and cassis of fine concentration, the fruit precise rather than ripe-heavy. On the palate, medium body and supple tannins frame an elegant, scented profile with finely judged acidity and a pleasantly saline quality toward the finish. The 2015 speaks with the freshness and refinement of a modernised but still classically rooted Pauillac.
